Iceland Ring Road 5D

The ultimate 5-day dash around Iceland's Ring Road, hitting every major icon from glaciers to volcanoes.

Keflavík ✈ Reykjavik → Vík → Jökulsárlón → Mývatn → Akureyri → Reykjavik

  1. Day 1 · Arrival & Reykjavik Vibes

Fly into KEF, soak in the Blue Lagoon, and explore Reykjavik — 5-day route: KEF → South Coast → Glacier Lagoon → East Fjords → Myvatn → Akureyri → Reykjavik, ~1,400km.

    • Keflavík Airport

✈️ Pick up your 4WD and hit the road immediately.

    • Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa

The ultimate Iceland welcome. Milky blue waters surrounded by black lava fields. It's touristy but totally worth the hype for the silica mask alone.

    • Hallgrímskirkja Church

This iconic concrete church was inspired by basalt lava columns. The view from the top gives you the best colorful rooftop panorama of the city.

    • Sólfar - Sun Voyager

A massive stainless steel sculpture resembling a Viking ship. It's a dream at sunset with the mountains across the bay.

  2. Day 2 · South Coast Waterfalls

Chase massive waterfalls and walk on black sand beaches along the dramatic South Coast.

    • Seljalandsfoss Waterfall

The famous 'walk-behind' waterfall. It's powerful, misty, and absolutely magical. Don't forget to check out Gljufrabui hidden in the canyon nearby.

    • Skógafoss Waterfall

A massive wall of water. You can walk right up to the base or climb the 500+ steps to the top for a view of the coastline.

    • Dyrhólaey Arch

A massive rock arch and lighthouse. In summer, this is a prime spot to see puffins nesting in the cliffs.

    • Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach

World-famous black sand, basalt columns, and 'sneaker waves'. It's moody, beautiful, and slightly dangerous.

  3. Day 3 · Glaciers & Icebergs

Head east to the realm of ice. See floating bergs and a beach covered in 'diamonds'.

    • Skaftafell - Vatnajökull National Park

A hiker's paradise. Take the short trail to Svartifoss, the waterfall framed by hanging basalt columns.

    • Fjallsárlón Iceberg Lagoon

The 'little brother' to Jökulsárlón. It's more intimate and you can get much closer to the glacier wall.

    • Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

Massive icebergs break off the glacier and float toward the sea. Watch for seals playing between the bergs.

    • Breiðamerkursandur (Diamond Beach)

Where the icebergs wash up on the black sand. They look like giant diamonds sparkling in the sun.

  4. Day 4 · Canyons & Geothermal North

A big driving day through the East Fjords to the volcanic wonders of Mývatn.

    • Stuðlagil Canyon

The most stunning basalt column canyon in Iceland. The turquoise water against the geometric rocks is unreal.

    • Hverir Geothermal Area

A landscape of bubbling mud pots and steaming fumaroles. It feels like you've landed on another planet.

    • Grjótagjá Cave

A small lava cave with a thermal spring inside. Famous as a filming location for Game of Thrones.

    • Mývatn Nature Baths

The North's answer to the Blue Lagoon. Less crowded, cheaper, and just as relaxing with great views.

  5. Day 5 · The Waterfall of Gods & Return

Visit the 'Waterfall of the Gods' and the capital of the North before the long haul back to Reykjavik.

    • Goðafoss Waterfall

One of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. Its name means 'Waterfall of the Gods' from when statues of Norse gods were thrown in.

    • Akureyri Town Center

The 'Capital of the North'. A charming town with botanical gardens, cool cafes, and heart-shaped red traffic lights.

    • Glaumbær Farm & Museum

Beautifully preserved turf houses that show how Icelanders lived for centuries. It's like stepping back in time.

    • Reykjavik City

Complete the loop! Back in the capital for a celebratory dinner and a good night's sleep.
