Iceland Ring Road 5D

The ultimate 5-day dash around Iceland's Ring Road, hitting every major icon from glaciers to geysers.

KEF → Seljalandsfoss → Vik → Jokulsarlon → Studlagil → Myvatn → Akureyri → Reykjavik → KEF

  1. Day 1 · South Coast Waterfalls

Fly into KEF, grab the 4WD and hit the road — 5-day route: KEF → South Coast → East Fjords → North → Reykjavik → KEF, ~1,400km.

    • Keflavik Airport

Pick up your 4WD and stock up on snacks at the duty-free.

    • Seljalandsfoss Waterfall

One of Iceland's most famous falls because you can actually walk in a full circle behind the cascading water. It's misty, loud, and totally magical.

    • Skogafoss Waterfall

A massive curtain of water that often produces double rainbows. It's the start of the Fimmvorduhals trail and looks like something out of a movie.

    • Dyrholaey Promontory

A high volcanic peninsula offering panoramic views of the black sand coastline and a giant sea arch carved by the Atlantic waves.

    • Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach

World-famous beach known for its jet-black sand, hexagonal basalt columns, and the Reynisdrangar sea stacks poking out of the ocean.

  2. Day 2 · Glaciers & Icebergs

Heading east to the land of ice. We're hitting the glacier lagoons and the famous Diamond Beach.

    • Skaftafell Nature Reserve

An oasis surrounded by glaciers. It offers everything from easy walks to intense glacier hikes and the famous basalt-column waterfall, Svartifoss.

    • Fjallsarlon Iceberg Lagoon

A stunning glacial lagoon where you can get much closer to the glacier wall than at the main lagoon. It's less crowded and very peaceful.

    • Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

Iceland's deepest lake, filled with icebergs that have broken off the Breidamerkurjokull glacier. Look out for seals playing in the water!

    • Diamond Beach (Breidamerkursandur)

Where the icebergs from the lagoon wash up on the black volcanic sand. The contrast between the crystal ice and dark sand is a photographer's dream.

  3. Day 3 · The Volcanic North

Long drive today through the East Fjords to the geothermal wonders of Myvatn.

    • Studlagil Canyon

A hidden gem recently revealed when a dam lowered the water level. It features the largest collection of basalt columns in Iceland and turquoise water.

    • Hverir Geothermal Area

A Martian landscape of boiling mud pots, hissing fumaroles, and colorful mineral deposits. It's raw volcanic power you can smell from miles away.

    • Grjotagja Cave

A small lava cave with a thermal spring inside. Famous as the filming location for Jon Snow and Ygritte's scene in Game of Thrones.

    • Myvatn Nature Baths

The 'Blue Lagoon of the North'. These alkaline baths are heated by the earth and offer stunning views over the volcanic landscape of Lake Myvatn.

  4. Day 4 · Waterfalls & Turf Houses

Chasing the 'Waterfall of the Gods' before heading to the capital of the North.

    • Godafoss Waterfall

One of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. Legend says that when Iceland converted to Christianity, the lawspeaker threw his Norse statues into the falls.

    • Akureyri Town Center

The 'Capital of the North'. It's a charming town with botanical gardens, a striking church, and a surprisingly vibrant cultural scene.

    • Glaumbaer Turf Farm

A heritage site featuring traditional Icelandic turf houses. It gives you a real sense of how Icelanders lived in the harsh climate centuries ago.

  5. Day 5 · Reykjavik & Blue Lagoon

The final stretch back to the capital for some city vibes and a farewell soak.

    • Sun Voyager (Solfar)

A dream boat and an ode to the sun. It symbolizes the promise of undiscovered territory and freedom.

    • Hallgrimskirkja Church

Reykjavik's most famous landmark. The design was inspired by the basalt lava flows of Iceland's landscape.

    • Reykjavik City Center

A compact, walkable city full of street art, quirky shops, and world-class restaurants.

    • The Blue Lagoon

A geothermal spa located in a lava field. The milky blue water is rich in minerals like silica and sulfur, known for being great for the skin.
