Iceland Ring Road 5D -

5 day Roadigo trip with 17 stops

  1. Day 1 · The Golden Circle

Fly into KEF, grab the 4x4, and hit the classics — 5-day route: KEF → South Coast → Eastfjords → Akureyri → KEF, ~1,350km.

    • Keflavik Airport

✈️ Pick up your 4x4 and hit the road immediately.

    • Thingvellir National Park

A UNESCO site where the North American and Eurasian plates are pulling apart. It's also the site of the world's first parliament.

    • Haukadalur Geothermal Area

Home to the famous Strokkur, which erupts every 6-10 minutes. The smell of sulfur is strong, but the show is worth it.

    • Gullfoss Falls

The 'Golden Falls' is a massive two-tiered waterfall that drops into a deep canyon. On sunny days, rainbows are everywhere.

  2. Day 2 · Waterfalls & Glaciers

Driving the dramatic South Coast toward the glacier lagoon.

    • Seljalandsfoss Waterfall

One of the few waterfalls in the world you can actually walk behind. It's iconic and very misty.

    • Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach

Famous for its basalt columns and powerful waves. The sand is pitch black and the sea stacks are legendary.

    • Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

Huge icebergs break off the glacier and float in this deep blue lagoon before drifting out to sea.

    • Diamond Beach (Breiðamerkursandur)

Where the icebergs from the lagoon wash up on the black sand, looking like giant diamonds.

  3. Day 3 · The Wild Eastfjords

Winding through dramatic fjords and fishing villages toward the north.

    • Vestrahorn Mountain (Stokksnes)

A jagged 'Batman' mountain rising from black dunes. One of the most photogenic spots in Iceland.

    • Djupivogur Village

A quiet fishing village known for its slow pace and the 'Eggs of Merry Bay' art installation.

    • Seydisfjordur Town

The most beautiful town in the East, tucked at the end of a long fjord with colorful wooden houses.

  4. Day 4 · Volcanic North

From massive waterfalls to bubbling mud pools and the 'Capital of the North'.

    • Dettifoss Waterfall

The most powerful waterfall in Europe. The sheer volume of water crashing down is terrifyingly beautiful.

    • Hverir Geothermal Area

A landscape of boiling mud pools and steaming fumaroles. It looks and smells like another planet.

    • Godafoss (Waterfall of the Gods)

A stunning horseshoe-shaped waterfall where Iceland's lawspeaker threw his Norse statues to symbolize the conversion to Christianity.

  5. Day 5 · The Long Drive Home

Crossing the north and west to complete the loop back to the airport.

    • Glaumbær Farm & Museum

Beautifully preserved turf houses that show how Icelanders lived for centuries. It's like a Hobbit village.

    • Borgarnes Town

A scenic town on a peninsula, perfect for a final break before the tunnel to Reykjavik.

    • Keflavik Airport

✈️ Drop off the car and catch your flight home.
