Keflavik → Reykjavik → South Coast → Jokulsarlon → Myvatn → Akureyri → Reykjavik

  1. Day 1 · Blue Lagoon & Reykjavik

Fly into KEF, grab the 4WD and hit the lagoon — 5-day route: KEF → South Coast → Glaciers → Myvatn → Akureyri → Reykjavik.

    • Keflavík Airport

Pick up your rental car. Make sure it's a 4WD for the gravel bits!

    • Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa

A world-renowned geothermal spa located in a lava field. The water is rich in minerals like silica and sulfur, known for skin-healing properties.

    • Hallgrimskirkja Church

The tallest church in Iceland and a landmark of Reykjavik. Its design mimics the basalt lava flows of the Icelandic landscape.

    • Sun Voyager (Solfar)

A massive stainless-steel sculpture resembling a Viking longship, representing the promise of undiscovered territory and freedom.

  2. Day 2 · South Coast Waterfalls

Heading south to the land of giants. Get ready to get wet behind the falls!

    • Seljalandsfoss Waterfall

One of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland, where you can actually walk in a cave behind the falling water.

    • Skogafoss Waterfall

A 60-meter drop waterfall that produces a lot of spray, often creating vivid rainbows on sunny days.

    • Dyrholaey Promontory

A massive rock arch and peninsula offering panoramic views of the black sand coastline and glaciers.

    • Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach

World-famous beach with striking basalt columns, sea stacks, and dark volcanic sand.

  3. Day 3 · Glaciers & Icebergs

Ice, ice, and more ice. Today we hit the crown jewels of the Vatnajökull region.

    • Skaftafell National Park

An oasis surrounded by glaciers. The hike to Svartifoss is a must for its unique basalt formations.

    • Fjallsarlon Glacier Lagoon

A smaller, more intimate iceberg lagoon where the glacier tongue reaches right into the water.

    • Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

Iceland's deepest lake, filled with icebergs that have broken off the Breidamerkurjokull glacier.

    • Diamond Beach (Breidamerkursandur)

A strip of black sand where icebergs from the lagoon wash ashore, creating a sparkling contrast.

  4. Day 4 · Canyons & Geothermal

A long drive north pays off with alien landscapes and basalt canyons.

    • Studlagil Canyon

A hidden gem featuring the largest number of basalt rock columns in Iceland and a turquoise river.

    • Hverir Geothermal Area

A large geothermal field with boiling mud pools and hissing steam vents.

    • Grjotagja Cave

A small lava cave that houses a geothermal hot spring. It was a popular bathing site until volcanic eruptions made it too hot.

    • Myvatn Nature Baths

A set of geothermally heated pools and steam baths located in the Lake Myvatn area.

  5. Day 5 · The Capital of the North

Wrapping up the loop with a massive waterfall and a dash back to the city.

    • Godafoss Waterfall

One of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland, where the laws of Christianity were famously thrown into the falls.
