Utah'S Mighty 5: The Ultimate

6 day Roadigo trip with 19 stops: Las Vegas → Zion → Bryce Canyon → Capitol Reef → Canyonlands → Arches → Richfield → Valley of Fire → Las Vegas

Las Vegas → Zion → Bryce Canyon → Capitol Reef → Canyonlands → Arches → Richfield → Valley of Fire → Las Vegas

  1. Into the Sanctuary

Grab your rental SUV (highly recommend AWD for some of the gravel turnouts) and stock up on a massive cooler of water. Desert dehydration is no joke.

    • Harry Reid International Airport

Grab your rental SUV (highly recommend AWD for some of the gravel turnouts) and stock up on a massive cooler of water. Desert dehydration is no joke.

    • Zion National Park

Head straight for the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. Since you can't drive private cars into the main canyon most of the year, hop on the shuttle. Hike the Riverside Walk to see the gateway to The Narrows, or if you have permits, tackle the spine-tingling Angel’s Landing.

    • Canyon Overlook Trail

Before heading to your stay, drive through the Zion-Mt. Carmel Tunnel. Just on the east side is a short 1-mile trail that gives you a "gods-eye view" of the switchbacks you just drove up.

  2. Hoodoos and High Altitudes

A quick photo stop on your way out of Zion’s east gate to see the unique cross-hatching on the sandstone.

    • Checkerboard Mesa

A quick photo stop on your way out of Zion’s east gate to see the unique cross-hatching on the sandstone.

    • Bryce Canyon National Park

It’s much higher elevation here (and colder!). Head to Bryce Point for the best panoramic view of the "Silent City."

    • Navajo Loop & Queen’s Garden Trail

Drop down into the canyon from Sunset Point. You’ll walk through "Wall Street," a narrow slot between massive orange fins, and stand right next to the famous Thor’s Hammer hoodoo.

  3. The Most Scenic Drive in America

This isn't just a transit day; this road is the destination. You'll drive across "The Hogback," a narrow ridge with steep drops on both sides.

    • Highway 12 (All-American Road)

This isn't just a transit day; this road is the destination. You'll drive across "The Hogback," a narrow ridge with steep drops on both sides.

    • Kiva Coffeehouse

Stop here for a brew with a view overlooking the Grand Staircase-Escalante.

    • Capitol Reef National Park

Enter the Land of the Sleeping Rainbow. Head to the Sulphur Creek Overlook and then visit the Gifford Homestead in the Fruita District. They sell legendary sourdough bread and fruit pies made from the local orchards.

    • Scenic Drive

Finish the day driving the 8-mile paved road that takes you deep into the heart of the park's waterpocket fold.

  4. Petroglyphs and Island in the Sky

A moderate 2-mile hike to a massive natural bridge before leaving Capitol Reef. Don't miss the Fremont Petroglyphs right off the main road on your way out.

    • Hickman Bridge

A moderate 2-mile hike to a massive natural bridge before leaving Capitol Reef. Don't miss the Fremont Petroglyphs right off the main road on your way out.

    • Canyonlands National Park (Island in the Sky)

This district sits on a massive mesa 1,000 feet above the surrounding terrain. Hit Grand View Point Overlook—it looks like a giant dinosaur footprint was pressed into the earth.

    • Mesa Arch

It’s a short walk to the most photographed arch in the park. It frames the canyon below perfectly, especially as the late afternoon light hits the underside of the stone.

  5. Arches and Moab Vibes

You need a timed-entry reservation here! Head straight to the back of the park to the Devils Garden. You can see Landscape Arch (one of the world's longest) and double back through the fins.

    • The Windows Section

Check out Double Arch and the North/South Windows. It’s low-effort, high-reward scenery.

    • Delicate Arch

Save this for last. It’s a 3-mile round trip hike over open slickrock. Bring a headlamp for the walk down after sunset—the sight of the arch glowing orange against the La Sal Mountains is the peak Utah experience.

  6. Dead Horse Point and The Long Stretch

We're breaking up the drive back to Vegas so you aren't exhausted. It's a quiet town, perfect for a local steak dinner and a solid night's rest.

    • Dead Horse Point State Park

Just outside Canyonlands, this spot offers a gooseneck river view that rivals the Grand Canyon. It’s the perfect "final look" at the red rocks.

    • Moab

Grab a burger at Milt's Stop & Eat before starting the trek back west.

    • Richfield
