Iceland Ring Road 6D

A whirlwind 6-day loop of Iceland's Ring Road, hitting every major waterfall, glacier, and fjord.

KEF ✈ Thingvellir → Vik → Jokulsarlon → Hofn → Myvatn → Akureyri → Reykjavik ✈ KEF

  1. Day 1 · Golden Circle Kickoff

    Fly into KEF, grab the 4x4 and hit the Golden Circle — 6-day route: KEF → Vik → Hofn → Egilsstadir → Akureyri → Reykjavik → KEF, ~1,400km.

    • Keflavik Airport

      ✈️ Land, grab your rental car and some snacks for the road.

    • Thingvellir National Park

      Walk between tectonic plates at this UNESCO site where the world's oldest parliament was formed.

    • Geysir Geothermal Area

      Watch Strokkur blast boiling water 30 meters into the air every few minutes. It's nature's clockwork.

    • Gullfoss Waterfall

      The 'Golden Falls' is a massive two-tier drop into a deep canyon. The power here is absolutely wild.

  2. Day 2 · South Coast Wonders

    Chasing waterfalls and walking on black sand beaches today.

    • Seljalandsfoss Waterfall

      The famous falls you can walk behind. Bring a raincoat or you'll get soaked!

    • Skogafoss Waterfall

      A massive wall of water. Climb the 500+ steps to the top for a killer view of the coast.

    • Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach

      Basalt columns, sea stacks, and pitch-black sand. Stunning but dangerous waves.

    • Vik i Myrdal

      The southernmost village in Iceland. The red-roofed church on the hill is iconic.

  3. Day 3 · Glaciers & Icebergs

    Heading east to see the massive Vatnajokull glacier and floating icebergs.

    • Skaftafell / Vatnajokull NP

      A hiker's paradise. The trail to Svartifoss (the black fall) is totally worth the sweat.

    • Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

      Huge blue icebergs breaking off the glacier and floating to sea. Look for seals!

    • Diamond Beach

      Where the icebergs wash up on the black sand. They look like giant diamonds.

  4. Day 4 · East Fjords to Myvatn

    Winding through dramatic fjords and ending in the volcanic North.

    • Vestrahorn Mountain

      The 'Batman Mountain'. One of the most dramatic peaks in Iceland.

    • Seydisfjordur Town

      The cutest town in the East. Famous for the rainbow road leading to a blue church.

    • Hverir Geothermal Area

      It looks like Mars. Boiling mud, steaming vents, and a very strong sulfur smell!

  5. Day 5 · Waterfalls & Akureyri

    Visiting the 'Waterfall of the Gods' and the capital of the North.

    • Godafoss Waterfall

      The 'Waterfall of the Gods'. Horseshoe-shaped and absolutely stunning history.

    • Akureyri City Center

      Iceland's second-largest city. Great cafes, a botanical garden, and heart-shaped traffic lights.

    • Forest Lagoon (Skogarbod)

      A brand new geothermal spa tucked into the trees with views of the fjord.

  6. Day 6 · West Return & Reykjavik

    The final stretch back to the capital for some culture and a flight home.

    • Glaumbaer Turf Houses

      See how Icelanders lived for centuries in these adorable grass-roofed houses.

    • Hallgrimskirkja & Downtown

      The iconic rocket-shaped church. Grab a hot dog and walk the Laugavegur street.

    • Keflavik Airport
