Iceland Ring Road 5D
5 day Roadigo trip with 20 stops
Day 1 · Blue Lagoon & Reykjavik
Fly into KEF, grab the 4x4 and soak in the Blue Lagoon — 5-day route: KEF → South Coast → East Fjords → Myvatn → Akureyri → Reykjavik, ~1,400km.
Keflavik Airport
Pick up your 4x4 rental here. Check for any wind warnings immediately.
Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa
The ultimate Iceland welcome. Milky blue water surrounded by black lava fields. It's touristy but totally worth the hype for the silica mask alone.
Hallgrimskirkja Church
The most iconic building in Iceland. The design mimics basalt columns. Take the elevator to the top for the best view of the colorful city roofs.
The Sun Voyager Sculpture
A massive stainless steel 'dream boat' on the waterfront. It's an ode to the sun and discovery. Best at sunset or blue hour.
Day 2 · South Coast Waterfalls
Head south to chase massive waterfalls and walk on the world-famous black sand beaches.
Seljalandsfoss Waterfall
The one you can walk behind! It's a 60m drop. Be prepared to get soaked by the mist, but the view from the cave is legendary.
Skogafoss Waterfall
A massive wall of water. On sunny days, you'll almost always see a double rainbow. Climb the 500+ steps to the top for a killer view.
Dyrholaey Promontory
A massive stone arch and lighthouse. This is the best spot to see puffins (in summer) and get a panoramic view of the black coastline.
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
World-famous black sand and basalt columns. The Reynisdrangar sea stacks look like petrified trolls rising from the ocean.
Day 3 · Glaciers & Icebergs
Drive east to the realm of the Vatnajökull glacier. Today is all about ice in all its forms.
Skaftafell National Park
Part of Vatnajökull NP. Hike to Svartifoss (the waterfall with black basalt columns) or join a guided glacier walk here.
Fjallsarlon Glacier Lagoon
The quieter cousin of Jokulsarlon. You get much closer to the glacier tongue here. It's peaceful and less crowded.
Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon
Huge icebergs break off the glacier and float toward the sea. Look out for seals playing between the bergs. It's magical.
Diamond Beach (Breiðamerkursandur)
Where the icebergs wash up on the black sand. They look like giant diamonds. This is THE photo day — charge your camera.
Day 4 · Canyons & Geothermal
Drive through the East Fjords to the North. Explore basalt canyons and bubbling mud pools.
Studlagil Basalt Canyon
One of the world's most stunning basalt column formations. The turquoise river against the geometric rocks is unreal.
Hverir Geothermal Area
A Martian landscape of bubbling mud pots and steaming fumaroles. It smells like sulfur (rotten eggs), but the colors are insane.
Grjotagja Cave
A small lava cave with a thermal spring inside. Famous as a filming location for Game of Thrones. You can't swim, but it's beautiful.
Myvatn Nature Baths
The 'Blue Lagoon of the North'. Less crowded and cheaper than the original. Perfect way to end a long driving day.
Day 5 · The North to Reykjavik
Visit the 'Waterfall of the Gods' and the capital of the North before the long haul back to Reykjavik.
Godafoss Waterfall
The 'Waterfall of the Gods'. It's horseshoe-shaped and stunningly powerful. Easy access from both sides of the river.
Akureyri Town Center
Iceland's second-largest city. Check out the botanical gardens or the iconic church. Great place for a final souvenir hunt.
Glaumbaer Turf Houses
Beautifully preserved turf farmhouses from the 18th and 19th centuries. It looks like a Hobbit village and shows how Icelanders used to live.
Reykjavik
Back to the capital for a final celebratory dinner before heading toward the airport.
