Iceland Ring Road 5D

The ultimate 5-day dash around Iceland's Ring Road, hitting every major waterfall, glacier, and volcano.

Keflavik ✈ Vik → Hofn → Myvatn → Akureyri → Blue Lagoon → Keflavik

  1. Day 1 · South Coast Waterfalls

Fly into KEF, grab the 4x4 and hit the road — 5-day route: KEF → Vik → Hofn → Myvatn → Akureyri → KEF, ~1,350km.

    • Keflavik Airport

✈️ Land and grab your rental car. Go for a 4WD even in summer.

    • Seljalandsfoss Waterfall

The famous falls you can actually walk behind. It's slippery and wet, but the view through the water curtain is legendary.

    • Skogafoss Waterfall

A massive wall of water. You can walk right up to the base or climb the 500+ steps to the top for a coastal view.

    • Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach

World-famous black sands and basalt columns. The 'Sneaker Waves' are real—never turn your back on the ocean here.

  2. Day 2 · Glaciers & Ice Lagoons

Heading east to the land of ice. We're hitting the massive Vatnajokull glacier area.

    • Skaftafell - Vatnajokull National Park

A hiker's paradise. Hike to Svartifoss (the black waterfall) or join a guided glacier walk on the tongue of the ice cap.

    • Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

Giant icebergs break off the glacier and float toward the sea. It's like another planet. Keep an eye out for seals!

    • Diamond Beach

Right across from the lagoon, ice chunks wash up on the black sand, looking like massive diamonds. Incredible for photos.

    • Hofn

Arrive in the fishing village of Hofn. Time for a famous langoustine dinner.

  3. Day 3 · East Fjords to Myvatn

Long driving day through winding fjords and mountain passes into the volcanic north.

    • Seydisfjordur Village

The most picturesque town in the East. Famous for its blue church and rainbow-painted street.

    • Hverir Geothermal Area

A Martian landscape of bubbling mud pools and steaming fumaroles. Warning: it smells strongly of sulfur (rotten eggs)!

    • Grjotagja Cave

A hidden lava cave with a thermal spring inside. Famous as a filming location for Game of Thrones.

    • Myvatn Nature Baths

The 'Blue Lagoon of the North'. Less crowded and more authentic. Perfect way to end a long driving day.

  4. Day 4 · Waterfalls & Whales

Exploring the 'Waterfall of the Gods' before heading to the capital of the North.

    • Godafoss Waterfall

The 'Waterfall of the Gods'. A massive horseshoe-shaped fall with deep historical roots in Iceland's conversion to Christianity.

    • Husavik Whale Watching

The whale capital of Iceland. Take a traditional wooden boat out to see Humpbacks and Blue Whales.

    • Akureyrarkirkja

The iconic church overlooking the city. Designed by the same architect as Hallgrimskirkja in Reykjavik.

    • Akureyri Harbor

Stroll the harbor and enjoy the vibrant culture of Iceland's second-largest city.
